On 13 February 1943, the Marine Corps officially established the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. Commandant General Thomas Holcomb—who had originally been against the formation of a women’s reserve unit—decided that they didn’t need a nickname because being trained as Marines, they are Marines.

Following WWII, in 1948 the Women's Armed Services Integration Act gave women permanent status in the Regular and Reserve forces of the Marines.

Located in the Willamette Valley, Chapter OR-3 was organized 1 November 1980 and chartered 15 April 1981.
We primarily serve Lane, Linn, Benton, and Douglas counties but all Women Marines are welcome.
